GPD Win SteamOS and Linux compatibility
Scope
This page indexes three AMD GPD Win families. Win Mini 2025 is only a specification anchor, not a substitute for Win 4 or Win Max 2 facts.
Do not flash or install from a family-name match. Capture the complete product, model year, APU, BIOS, display, and wireless adapter first.
Verdict
Linux gaming support is limited and exact-model dependent. Bazzite maintains GPD-specific notes and integration, but unlisted revisions still require a full local validation pass.
Compatibility boundaries
| Area | What varies | Evidence to require | Blocking failure |
|---|---|---|---|
Identity | Family, model year, APU, panel | Full model and vendor specification | Ambiguous revision |
Handheld use | Controls, orientation, gyro, TDP | Maintained distribution record | Broken primary input |
Laptop use | Keyboard, pointer, suspend, audio | Exact-device local test | Unusable resume or input |
Expansion | USB4, HDMI, OCuLink, docks | Separate accessory matrix | Required display path fails |
Recommendation
Choose Bazzite-Deck when its current GPD page covers the exact device and your required controls. Keep vendor firmware and recovery access. Treat stock SteamOS and unlisted revisions as limited experimental paths.
Verification
Record the full model and year, APU, BIOS/EC, panel, wireless adapter, image, kernel, Mesa, HHD, input modes, suspend cycles, audio, TDP, battery data, ports, dock, and eGPU path.
Known issues
Support can change with BIOS/EC, kernel, Mesa, Gamescope, HHD, and display-orientation fixes. External GPU success does not prove suspend or handheld controls.
